| ->> QUILT RETREAT <<- The Garland Quilt Guild's retreat is usually held the weekend following Memorial Day at The Compass Centre in Mt. Calm Texas, which is east of Hillsboro, about 100 miles from Garland. Reserve this weekend for lots of fun, food, and laughter (and a little sleep). <br /> <br />To see the Compass Centre, check it out at <br />www.compasscentre.com. The Centre sleeps 35 (3 or 4 to a bedroom, 7 to a large bathroom. This place was designed with quilters in mind! Cost is approximately $63 per night for Thursday through Sunday. Check-in is at noon on Thursday or Friday. All meals provided except for Thursday or Friday lunch depending on arrival day. Sunday is brunch only. <br /> <br />If you have never been to a quilt retreat, you should find out what you have been missing! Imagine a weekend with nothing to do but quilt, visit with quilters, and eat meals cooked and cleaned up by someone else! If you don't know anyone who's going, don't worry, you'll know them by the time you come home! <br /> <br />How many UFO's do you think you could finish in a weekend of uninterrupted quilting? <br /> <br />Road trips to 3 quilt stores within the area may also take place. If it sounds like fun, you're right, it is! <br /> <br />Due to limited space, spots will be filled on a first-come, first-pay basis. Mail in your application (bottom portion of the flyer) with check payable to the Guild no earlier than March 1. Applications received with postmarks before March 1 (or no postmark) will go to the bottom of the pile. Members with spots reserved will be announced at the March guild meeting. <br /> <br />Additional information (such as what to bring and driving directions) will be given at a later date to those going to Retreat. | Monthly Meetings The Garland Quilt Guild has its regular monthly meeting on the first Tuesday of every month in the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church at 930 West Avenue B (near 9th Street) in Garland. <br /> <br />Most meetings are from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, but the Meeting Calendar (see feature selections on left side of home page) of the Guild's website should be clicked to check for Board meetings, special speakers, workshops and other guild related activities. <br /> <br />Please remember to bring your Membership Card to each meeting, or you will be required to pay $1 at the Membership table. <br /> <br />Remember -- each Show & Tell quilt and charity quilt will earn a coupon for an extra chance at door prizes. |
